Bone Hawk Skull

Bone Hawk Skull is a small Dawnguard trophy from skeletal bone hawks, needed for crafting the Bone Hawk Amulet at a forge.

The Bone Hawk Skull (Dawnguard) is the skull of a bone hawk, the undead skeletal birds introduced with the Dawnguard expansion. Its only forge use is the Bone Hawk Amulet, which needs one skull together with six Bone Hawk Feathers. It is worth just 7 gold and weighs 1, so this is not something you farm for profit – it is a little crafting curiosity for players who like a spooky trinket.

How to get it

The game data lists no loose skulls and no merchants who sell them, so the only reliable source is the birds themselves. Shoot a bone hawk down and loot what is left; you will typically get a skull and feathers from the same kill.

Since the amulet needs just one skull but six feathers, the skull is never the bottleneck. You will finish with spare skulls long before you have enough plumage. Spares can be sold, although at 7 gold apiece don’t expect to get rich.

A bow helps a lot here: bone hawks are birds, after all, and chasing them around with a sword is about as dignified as it sounds.

Good to know

  • Feathers, not skulls, are the limiting factor for the amulet.
