Revered Dragons are a high-level breed of dragon introduced in Dawnguard. They roam across Skyrim from around player level 33–59, and they come with a few tricks their older kin lack – including the life-draining shout of the Legendary Dragon.
They are hard to mistake: an orange hide with blue markings along the back, broad flat ridges running from the skull to the tail tip, a toothless bird-like beak, and huge, lidless eyes that look almost frog-like. No other dragon in the game has a beak instead of a toothy jaw.
At level 62 with about 3,500 Health, a Revered Dragon sits near the top of the dragon hierarchy. Its kit mixes the classic Fire Breath with Unrelenting Force and Drain Vitality, and its scales shrug off half of all fire damage – bad news for anyone who relies on flame spells.
Where to find them
Random Revered Dragons can appear anywhere in Skyrim once you reach the right level. Two unique ones are tied to a set place:
- Forgotten Vale – Naaslaarum and Voslaarum guard the word wall for Drain Vitality during or after Touching the Sky. They show up regardless of your level.
Notes
- Naaslaarum and Voslaarum plunge into the Vale’s frozen lake and resurface elsewhere – no other dragon is known to do this.
- Beyond the usual dragon bones, scales and treasure, a Revered Dragon can also drop Daedric weapons and armor, which makes it worth chasing.
- Compare it with the Ancient Dragon and Dragonborn’s Serpentine Dragon.
