Zahkriisos is a heavy helmet and the shock-flavoured member of the Dragonborn DLC’s trio of elemental Dragon Priest masks. It gives 50% shock resistance and makes your shock spells deal 25% more damage. It comes from the dragon priest of the same name, who lurks below Raven Rock on Solstheim (Dragonborn).
How to get it
Zahkriisos is found in the depths reached through Raven Rock Mine, under the town of Raven Rock. Fight your way to the bottom, defeat the priest and take the mask from his remains. He throws lightning around generously, including a special one-handed version of Lightning Storm, so shock resistance from potions, enchantments or racial bonuses makes the fight far less painful. Some players report that stacking enough shock resistance makes his attacks almost harmless.
- Head to Raven Rock Mine in Raven Rock.
- Follow it down to the hidden chambers below.
- Defeat Zahkriisos and loot the mask.
Is it worth wearing?
For a shock mage it is about as good as helmets get. Shock damage also burns magicka, so a 25% boost hits enemy casters twice as hard in practice, and it stacks with the Augmented Shock perks. The 50% shock resistance is great insurance against storm mages and lightning-happy dragon priests. Like its siblings it has 23 armor rating, weighs 9 and can be tempered with an ebony ingot.
Its weakness is that it only cares about one element. If you mix schools, compare it with Ahzidal (fire) and Dukaan (frost). For general survivability rather than spell damage, Miraak’s mask is the other famous Solstheim helmet.
Good to know
- Zahkriisos and Miraak both cast an unusual one-handed Lightning Storm that players cannot normally learn.
- Breton and other magic-resistant characters still benefit, since the mask’s shock resistance is a separate bonus.
- It counts as heavy armor, so pure light-armor builds lose a bit of perk value.
