Dukaan is a heavy helmet and one of the Dragonborn DLC’s Dragon Priest masks. Its enchantment is simple and strong: 50% frost resistance plus 25% more damage from frost spells. It is named after, and taken from, the dragon priest Dukaan, one of the old masters of Solstheim (Dragonborn).
How to get it
Dukaan waits in White Ridge Sanctum, the inner part of White Ridge Barrow on Solstheim. Fight through the barrow, reach the sanctum and defeat the priest; the mask drops from his remains. Dukaan is a frost specialist and even uses an exclusive frost spell that works much like the Frost Breath shout, so pack frost resistance potions or shock and fire spells of your own.
- Travel to White Ridge Barrow on Solstheim.
- Push through to White Ridge Sanctum.
- Defeat Dukaan and loot the mask.
Is it worth wearing?
If you build around frost, yes. A 25% boost to frost spells stacks with the Augmented Frost perks, and frost also drains stamina, so a harder-hitting Ice Spike or Ice Storm gets more out of every cast. Players have also noted that the bonus boosts some frost-based effects beyond plain damage. The 50% frost resistance is a big help against frost dragons, ice wraiths and the many draugr that love frost magic.
With 23 armor rating and a weight of 9 it is a respectable heavy helmet, and it can be tempered with an ebony ingot. The downside is focus: it does nothing for fire or shock. Compare it with Ahzidal for fire and Zahkriisos for shock and pick the element you actually spam.
Good to know
- Part of a matching trio of Solstheim masks: fire, frost and shock.
- It is a heavy helmet, so it benefits from heavy armor perks rather than light armor ones.
- Frost resistance from the mask stacks with racial frost resistance, which makes it a natural fit for a Nord battlemage.
