Tolfdir

Tolfdir is an elderly Nord mage and teacher at the College of Winterhold. He may seem a bit absent-minded, but he’s one of the best Alteration scholars in Tamriel – and one of the friendliest people you’ll meet at the College.

In the questline

• First Lessons: he teaches the new apprentices how to use wards and gives you Lesser Ward if you don’t know it.
• Under Saarthal: he leads the excursion to the ruin of Saarthal and follows you through it until the Eye of Magnus is found.
• Later he becomes Master Wizard of the College when the questline’s events leave that post empty.

Services

Master-level Alteration trainer. He also sells Alteration spells – among them Telekinesis, Waterbreathing and Ebonyflesh – plus jewelry, staves and robes. You’ll find him in the Hall of the Elements, or eating and sleeping in the Hall of Attainment.
