Shrine of Talos: Sea of Ghosts

Unmarked Talos statue on a coastal peninsula west of the College of Winterhold, home of Velehk Sain’s treasure and a One-Handed skill book.

Shrine of Talos: Sea of Ghosts is an unmarked statue of Talos on a flat peninsula along the northern coast. It sits southwest of Ysgramor’s Tomb and west of the College of Winterhold, with Trius’ Camp to the south and Pilgrim’s Trench to the southwest. Most visitors come for a Dremora’s buried treasure.

What you’ll find

  • A large statue of Talos. The path up to it starts behind the statue.
  • An apothecary’s satchel, a leveled weapon and a skill book.
  • After the right quest choice: a whole pile of Velehk Sain’s loot at the statue’s feet.

Quests

Forgotten Names: Velehk Sain is a Dremora bound to a relic in The Midden beneath the College. Free him and he hands you a map to his treasure. Kill him and you get nothing. The treasure only appears after you’ve met him. His map is famously unhelpful, so here’s the shortcut: get down to water level, head due west from the College, and walk around the flat peninsula until the statue shows up. You can also stand by the beached rowboat at Pilgrim’s Trench and look southeast.

Notable items

  • Skill book The Importance of Where (One-Handed).
  • Velehk Sain’s treasure (randomized): gold ingots, gems, rings, goblets, an Amulet of Talos, coin purses, an enchanted Imperial sword and a chest with gold and a circlet. At level 50 or higher, the chest might hold a Dragonscale helmet.

Tips

  • Hear Velehk out completely before you do anything, and don’t attack him during his dialogue, or the treasure may never spawn.
  • The loose loot is heavy (six gold ingots alone), so bring carrying space or a patient follower.
