Bedrooms (Hearthfire)

Hearthfire west-wing addition with a master bed, two child’s beds, plenty of storage and a porch – the family wing of your homestead.

The Bedrooms are a west-wing addition for a Hearthfire homestead – Lakeview Manor, Windstad Manor or Heljarchen Hall, the section being the same in each. It requires the Main Hall and takes the west wing that could otherwise become the Greenhouse. Build it if you have a spouse, adopted children or simply an unreasonable amount of clothing.

What you’ll find

  • A rectangular room with a double bed, two child’s beds, tables, a washbasin and room for a weapon plaque.
  • Lots of storage: chest, safe, tall and small wardrobes, and display cases with wardrobe or shelf.
  • Decorative mounted bear head and mounted mudcrab, plus wall sconces.
  • An outdoor wooden porch reached from the second floor, with benches, low tables and tables with seating. It can link up with the Storage Room porch if you built that too, just like the Armory porch.

Building costs

The structure costs 14 sawn logs, 18 quarried stone, 14 nails, 3 clay, 3 iron fittings, 3 locks and 6 hinges. With every furnishing included, the full bill comes to 52 sawn logs, 71 nails, 18 quarried stone, 12 iron ingots, 3 steel ingots (for the safe), 11 iron fittings, 12 hinges, 6 locks, 10 leather strips, 3 straw, a little glass, goat horns, mudcrab chitin and a bear pelt. Build at the indoor carpenter’s workbench, or pay the steward 2,000 gold to furnish it for you.

Tips

For adoption, each child needs a bed and a chest or dresser. You don’t strictly need this wing for that: beds and a dresser in the Main Hall’s upstairs west bedroom also work for two kids. Building the Bedrooms will not let you adopt more than two children, no matter how many beds you add. Family members tend to prefer the ground-floor beds once these are built, though a double bed here can stop your steward from sleeping in their own bed upstairs. The exterior “Round Table and Chairs” option is known not to appear, so save your logs.
