House of Clan Shatter-Shield is a family home in Windhelm, belonging to one of the city’s old Nord clans. It is not a shop or an inn – you come here because of grief, murder and, if you’re a collector, a strange little gem upstairs.
What you’ll find
- Torbjorn Shatter-Shield, head of the household.
- Tova Shatter-Shield, his wife.
- Nilsine Shatter-Shield, their daughter.
- A kitchen with a cooking pot and an upstairs master bedroom with a bookshelf.
- A thieves’ “loot” shadowmark above the front door.
History
Friga Shatter-Shield once lived here too, before she moved to Hjerim and became a victim of the serial killer haunting Windhelm’s streets. The family still feels her loss.
Quests
- Mourning Never Comes – a dark task connected to the family’s sorrow.
- No Stone Unturned – the house holds one of the unusual gems you’re hunting.
- Rare Gifts – a radiant quest from Torbjorn; once you complete it, items in the house can be taken freely.
Notable items
- An unusual gem on a bookshelf in the upstairs master bedroom.
Tips
The house sits among Windhelm’s old Nord family homes, so it’s an easy detour while you’re exploring the city or chasing the killer’s trail from Hjerim. If you want the gem without a bounty, either sneak upstairs while the family is busy or complete Torbjorn’s Rare Gifts first so the whole house becomes fair game. The shadowmark above the door tells fellow thieves there’s loot inside – and for once, it’s right. Be gentle with the family, though: they have already lost a daughter, and they will remember who stole from them.
