Sahrotaar is a serpentine dragon and the mount of Miraak, the first Dragonborn. You meet him in Apocrypha near the end of the Dragonborn add-on, during At the Summit of Apocrypha. His name in the dragon tongue, Sahrot–Aar, means “Mighty–Servant” – fitting, since he has been forced to serve Miraak for a very long time and is not happy about it.
Where to find them
Sahrotaar is met only once, on the way up to the summit of Apocrypha in the quest of the same name. Once he lands, what happens next depends on what you do.
Taming Sahrotaar
By this point you have learned Bend Will. Use it on Sahrotaar once he has landed and he switches his loyalty to you, declares that your Voice is stronger than Miraak’s and offers to fly you to his old master. Ignore him, and he attacks you instead with a very strong Frost Breath.
Once tamed, he is eager to fight at your side and speaks of finally taking vengeance on Miraak. His loyalty costs him dearly, though: during the final battle Miraak kills him to absorb his soul.
What he says
Sahrotaar mixes the dragon tongue into his speech once tamed. He calls you thuri (“overlord”), dismisses Miraak as vobalaan in (“unworthy master”) and promises that nahkriin saraan lingrah – “vengeance has waited long”.
Notes
- Sahrotaar drops the same loot as any other serpentine dragon.
- He is level 58 with 3565 health and 290 stamina.
- Taming him is a story moment: once he is yours, he warns that Miraak is strong and already knew you would come.
