Waterwalking Potions

The Potion of Waterwalking lets you stroll across the surface of water for 30 seconds. It only exists in the Dragonborn add-on and cannot be brewed.

Waterwalking is one of the rarer potion effects in Skyrim. Drinking the potion lets you walk on top of lakes, rivers and the sea for 30 seconds instead of swimming through them, which makes for a quick shortcut across open water. The potion comes only with the Dragonborn add-on, so you will not see it in a game without that expansion.

Name Effect Value Weight Form ID
Potion of Waterwalking Walk on the surface of water for 30 seconds 500 0.5 xx0390e0

Unlike most potion families there is only a single version, with no weaker or stronger variants.

Where to find them

The potion belongs to the Dragonborn add-on, which is set on Solstheim. The sources do not list a fixed spot for it, so treat it as an uncommon find while exploring the add-on content.

Brewing your own

You cannot make this one yourself. No ingredient carries the Waterwalking effect, so the Alchemy skill offers no way to brew it, and any bottle you find is worth hanging on to.

Tips

Do not confuse it with Waterbreathing Potions, which let you breathe below the surface rather than walk on top of it. Thirty seconds is short, so line up your crossing before you drink.

Where to find it

  • Dragonborn add-on only
  • No fixed location listed in the sources
  • Cannot be brewed
