Solid Dwemer Metal is the heavyweight of Dwarven scrap, both literally and figuratively. It weighs a hefty 25 and is worth 25 gold, so carrying it around for selling makes no sense at all. At a smelter, though, it becomes a
Dwarven Metal Ingot, the material for Dwarven Armor and Dwarven weapons (Dwarven Smithing perk). Think of it as an ingot with an attitude problem.
How to get it
It is found lying around in Dwemer ruins. The Nchuand-Zel ruins under Markarth have the most: 13 pieces in the Quarters, 8 in Control and 5 in the Armory. Calcelmo‘s Laboratory up in the city has 10, and the Dwemer Museum adds 16 across its rooms.
Mzulft is another excellent source with 10 pieces in the Aedrome and 8 each in the Boilery and the main ruin. The ruined tower at Alftand has 6. Falmer sometimes carry it as well. Since it is so heavy, it makes sense to clear a ruin in one go and haul everything to the nearest smelter, or to bring a follower to carry it for you.

Good to know
- At 25 weight for 25 gold it is a terrible thing to sell as is: smelt it into Dwarven Metal Ingots (30 gold, 1 weight) first.
