With Friends Like These… is the Dark Brotherhood’s job interview. You fall asleep somewhere, and wake up in an abandoned shack in Hjaalmarch with Astrid and three bound, hooded captives.
Walkthrough
Astrid wants you to kill one of them – someone has a contract on one of the three, but she won’t tell you which. Talk to them, decide, and do it. Astrid then gives you directions to the Sanctuary near Falkreath and the passphrase for the Black Door (“Silence, my brother”). Enter and speak with her to join the family.
The other option
Kill Astrid instead and the quest fails – but you start “Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!“.
Choices & consequences
Kill a captive: join the Brotherhood. Kill Astrid: start Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!
