Dragon’s Breath Mead is a domestic squabble in the village of Dragon Bridge in Haafingar. Olda is fed up with her husband Horgeir: he swore on his ancestors to give up drinking, yet he keeps a secret stash in a nearby cave and has wolves guarding it. She wants his favourite bottle confiscated, and you are the one to do it.
How to start
Talk to Olda in Dragon Bridge. She complains about Horgeir’s drinking, mentions the hidden cache and its wolf guards, and asks you to bring her the Dragon’s Breath Mead. You are free to keep anything else you find in the stash.
Walkthrough
Steal the Dragon’s Breath Mead
From Dragon Bridge, head southwest while keeping to the north bank of the river. You will reach a small cave watched by three wolves. Deal with them and look inside: a crate tucked behind some bushes holds several bottles of wine and Nord Mead, plus a single bottle of Dragon’s Breath Mead.
Bring the mead to Olda (or Horgeir)
Return to Dragon Bridge and choose who gets the bottle. Either way the quest ends.
Choices and consequences
- Give it to Olda: she pays you between 500 and 750 gold, a generous sum for a single bottle.
- Give it to Horgeir: he thanks you for rescuing it from his spiteful wife and trains you one point in Block, so you can better parry a punch from an angry spouse.
Whoever ends up with the mead, you can pickpocket it from them afterwards if you want the bottle yourself.
Rewards
- 500–750 gold from Olda, or
- +1 Block skill from Horgeir.
- Wine and Nord Mead from the stash.
Tips and notes
- The quest fails if either Olda or Horgeir dies before you finish it.
- The other drinks in the crate respawn over time, but the Dragon’s Breath Mead does not.
- The bottle is small and sometimes slips under or behind the crate. Shoving the crate with a shout such as Unrelenting Force or a blast of destruction magic can knock it free.
