Salvius Farm

Small wheat mill and farm just outside Markarth's front gate, worked by old Rogatus Salvius and Vigdis, with potatoes, chicken nests and a quest.

Salvius Farm is a modest farm and grain mill sitting right outside the front gate of Markarth, a stone’s throw from the Markarth Stables. It’s not an adventure spot so much as a slice of everyday life in the stony hills: a few gardens, a mill wheel and a farmhouse built in the city’s chunky style. Drop by if you need potatoes, eggs or a quick errand.

What you’ll find

  • Rogatus Salvius – an old farmer who says he’s worked this land for fifty years. He’s a little heartbroken that his son Leontius never comes to visit.
  • Vigdis Salvius – Rogatus’s companion, who works the fields with him and buys your produce.
  • Salvius Farmhouse – a typical three-part Markarth house: a small living space on each side and the entrance in the middle, with a deer skull hanging above the door.
  • A grain mill and a handful of garden plots.
  • 17 potato plants growing to the left of the house – the farm’s main cash crop, at least as far as you’re concerned.
  • Three nests where you can collect chicken’s eggs.

Quests

Rogatus’s Letter is tied to the farm and its family.

Tips

Vigdis will buy potatoes for 1 gold each. That won’t make you rich – picking all seventeen earns you about enough for a cheap drink – but it’s honest work and a nice break from robbing tombs. If you’ve just arrived in Markarth by carriage, the farm is right there, so it’s an easy place to pick up eggs for cooking before heading into the city.

Good to know

The farmhouse is a miniature version of Markarth’s own architecture, so if you’ve ever wondered what a Markarth home looks like without a few thousand tons of Dwemer stone on top, here’s your chance.
