The Enchanter’s Tower is one of the three choices for the west wing of a Hearthfire homestead, built on to the Main Hall. Picking it means skipping the Bedrooms and the Greenhouse for that homestead, so it is the obvious pick for mages who want a private workshop for Enchanting. The tower is identical at Lakeview Manor, Windstad Manor and Heljarchen Hall.
What you’ll find
- Ornate Arcane Enchanter: needs a sawn log, nails, glass, an iron ingot, a refined moonstone, a gold ingot and a grand soul gem filled with a grand soul (an empty gem or a lesser soul won’t do).
- Decor: two braziers, wall sconces and a mounted goat head.
- Storage: two chests, a cupboard, an end table, shelves and a display case on a low table.
- Gear display: an armor mannequin, a weapon plaque and a three-slot weapon rack.
- Rooftop balcony: a ladder from the second floor leads up to a small balcony with a chair, like the Library and Alchemy Laboratory.
Building costs
The tower goes up in seven stages, the last being an optional roof canopy. The structure needs 24 sawn logs, 16 quarried stone, 34 nails, 9 clay, 3 iron fittings, 3 locks and 6 hinges. Fully furnished, the whole wing comes to about 40 sawn logs, 17 quarried stone and 58 nails, with the crafted parts working out to roughly 24 iron ingots, 5 corundum ingots and 15 gold for glass.
Tips
A steward will furnish the tower for 2,500 gold, but building it yourself at the Carpenter’s Workbench is much cheaper. Sort out a filled grand soul gem before you start, or the enchanter will wait. Furnishings are permanent and the wing choice locks as soon as you start building.
Good to know
The tower and the Main Hall are the only parts of a homestead where you can build an Arcane Enchanter. Skip the canopy and the balcony gets a clear, unbroken view of the landscape – the tower still works fine, and your household keeps using it in their daily routines.
