Calixto’s House of Curiosities is a house-turned-museum in Windhelm. Calixto Corrium and his sister Lucilla spent an inheritance travelling across Tamriel, and after her death Calixto opened their collection to the public. For just 2 gold he will give you a guided tour – a bargain, at least on the surface.
What you’ll find
- Display cases full of oddities, mostly rare alchemical ingredients.
- Unique curios such as Ancient Nord embalming tools, The Book of Fate, The Dancer’s Flute and Ysgramor’s Soup Spoon.
- A cooking spit in Calixto’s bedroom.
Quests
Blood on the Ice – the trail of the Butcher eventually brings you to Calixto’s door. We won’t spoil how, but the tour may leave you with more questions than answers.
The tour
Pay your 2 gold and Calixto walks you from case to case, telling you a little about each piece and where he and Lucilla found it. Most exhibits are rare alchemical ingredients rather than weapons or armour, so alchemists will find the visit especially interesting – even if they’re only allowed to look, for now. The highlights are the oddly specific relics, from embalming gear of the ancient Nords to a soup spoon said to have belonged to Ysgramor himself.
Tips
If you find the house locked and Calixto refuses to talk after you break in, try catching him in the evening at Candlehearth Hall, where he likes to drink. Players report that his key needs to be in his pocket for the door to unlock, so pickpocketing it and putting it back can sort things out. Once the murder quest is over, the house stands empty, everything inside is marked as stealable and valuables respawn every few days – a perfect spot for a Thieves Guild Bedlam job in Windhelm.
Good to know
The collection is presented as a tribute to two siblings’ adventures, which makes it all the more unsettling once you learn what else Calixto has been collecting.
