Halbarn Iron-Fur is the Nord blacksmith of Thirsk Mead Hall on Solstheim (Dragonborn). When you first meet him, his beloved forge is in the hands of rieklings and he is stuck in a camp, fretting over what the little beasts are doing to it.
Where to find them
Before the hall is reclaimed he is stuck in a camp with the other displaced Thirsk Nords. Once Thirsk is back in Nord hands, he returns to his forge in the mead hall.
Quests
- Retaking Thirsk – he fights alongside you to drive the rieklings out of the hall.
- The Chief of Thirsk Hall – if you side with the rieklings instead, Halbarn and his companions are your targets.
- Halbarn’s Supplies – the rieklings stole most of his materials, so he asks you to bring him ten stalhrim and fifteen ebony ingots so he can get back to work. He needs them in a hurry, as Kuvar is pestering him about new armor.
Services
After his quest he works as a regular blacksmith and trader, selling weapons and armor. His raw materials come through friends in Raven Rock and among the Skaal, since Solstheim itself has little metal.
Follower & marriage
Finish Halbarn’s Supplies and he becomes a marriage candidate. No recruiting as a follower, but a husband who can forge is not a bad deal.
Personality & relationships
Halbarn is cheerful, practical and a little sentimental about his workshop; he openly wonders whether the forge missed him as much as he missed it. The rieklings had filled it with slop for their beasts, and Elmus helped him scrub it out, though he grumbles that the fire still smells awful. If Bujold is exiled as chieftain, he calls her one of the better leaders the hall has had, but believes a liar has no place in such a dangerous spot.
Good to know
Talking to him while he sleeps can make him get out of bed on the wall side and clip into the wall.
