Alfarinn is a Nord carriage driver stationed at Windhelm Stables, outside the walls of Windhelm. Early in the game he’s one of the best friends a new adventurer can have, because a ride with him unlocks a far-off city on your map for fast travel later.
Where to find them
He sits on his carriage at the stables, ready to go whenever you are.
Services
Alfarinn will take you to any hold capital. The price depends on the destination: 20 gold to the walled cities of Markarth, Riften, Solitude and Whiterun, and 50 gold to Dawnstar, Falkreath, Morthal and Winterhold, which have no walls. On the way he may comment on your destination or the weather.
Personality & relationships
He’s a man of few words, but ask about Windhelm and he’ll give you a quick, frank tour: an ancient city with an ancient palace, not friendly to outsiders, with Dark Elves pushed into the Gray Quarter and Argonians stuck down on the docks. His tip is that Candlehearth Hall has good food and cheap beds.
Good to know
Attack him and he’ll hop off the carriage to fight back. His pockets look empty to a pickpocket, and his belongings only appear once he’s dead. If a dragon attacks, he stays seated as if nothing is happening.
