Aphia Velothi is a Dunmer healer living in Raven Rock on Solstheim (Dragonborn). She is married to the stubborn old miner Crescius Caerellius, and most of her energy goes into stopping him from doing something fatal underground.
Where to find them
The first time you meet her, she is inside Raven Rock Mine, in the middle of a loud argument with Crescius. Otherwise she lives with him in the Caerellius family home in Raven Rock, a house that has belonged to his family for more than two centuries.
Quests
Aphia is closely tied to The Final Descent. Crescius found old letters from his great-grandfather Gratian, an East Empire Company explorer who supposedly died in a tunnel collapse, and he is convinced the company covered something up. Aphia thinks the letters are unremarkable and that Gratian is simply buried under the rubble. Be warned: if you help her husband with his treasure hunt, she may hire thugs to come after you.
Services
She trains Restoration up to Expert level, a handy option for healers stuck on the island.
Personality & relationships
Aphia loves Crescius dearly but has no patience for his conspiracy theories. He is nearly eighty, and she fears that the shock of finding his ancestor’s letters has muddled his thinking. The two met roughly a decade ago: Crescius had locked himself in his house in a deep depression after failing to find new ebony, and Councilor Lleril Morvayn had the door broken down. Aphia, then a temple priest, was sent to heal him, stayed to care for him, and the rest is romance.
She is no longer welcome at the temple. A disagreement with Elder Othreloth over the status of the Tribunal got her banned, though she politely declines to share the details. Ask her about Miraak and she half-remembers a temple on the island before the thought slips away.
Good to know
Her surname, Velothi, echoes the name given to the early Chimer during their great migration to Morrowind. Attacking her adds a bounty in Eastmarch, not on Solstheim.
