Clean Sweep is a miscellaneous quest from the Dragonborn DLC set in Raven Rock, the Dunmer town on Solstheim. Elder Othreloth, the priest of the local Temple, has a grim pest problem: ash spawn have climbed out of the ashes of the town’s own ancestors and taken over the tomb below the Temple. He would very much like someone with a sturdy weapon to do the sweeping.
How to start
- Visit the Temple in Raven Rock and speak to Elder Othreloth.
- Ask him about the Ancestral Tombs and why they can no longer be used, then offer to cleanse the tomb.
- He gives you a key to the tomb door.
Walkthrough
Hear Othreloth out
Othreloth explains that the Ancestral Tombs are where the Dunmer of Raven Rock lay their dead to rest. Because of the ash spawn, the tomb under the Temple has been off limits for some time, and the townsfolk have had to scatter the remains of their dead elsewhere. To the elder, the creatures are an insult to the memory of the ancestors whose ashes they rose from.
Clear the Temple’s tomb of ash spawn
Unlock the tomb door with Othreloth’s key and head down. Somewhere between nine and eleven ash spawn will come at you. They tend to arrive in numbers, so fight from a doorway or corridor where only a few can reach you at once rather than standing in the open. Once the last one has crumbled, the objective updates.
Report back
Return to Elder Othreloth and tell him the tomb has been cleansed. He thanks the spirits, hopes the creatures did not hurt you too badly and pays you for the trouble.
Rewards
The gold reward depends on your level:
- Level 1–29: 250 gold
- Level 30–39: 500 gold
- Level 40–49: 1,000 gold
- Level 50–59: 1,500 gold
- Level 60+: 2,000 gold
Tips and notes
- Because the payout scales so steeply with level, waiting until level 60 quadruples or even octuples the reward compared with doing it early.
- Raven Rock offers several other favours, such as Feeding the Addiction and Paid in Full.
- If you learn the Conjure Ash Spawn spell later, you can raise these creatures to fight for you instead.
