Truth Ore Consequences is a small courier job in the Rift, wrapped in one of Skyrim’s better quest puns. Hafjorg, who runs Elgrim’s Elixirs in Riften with her husband Elgrim, is waiting on a sample of ore from the miners of Shor’s Stone, and nobody has bothered to bring it over.
How to start
Visit Elgrim’s Elixirs, the alchemy shop on the lower walkway of Riften, and talk to Hafjorg. She asks you to collect an ore sample from Filnjar in Shor’s Stone. There are no prerequisites.

Obtain the ore sample from Filnjar
Shor’s Stone is a small mining village north of Riften. Filnjar is its blacksmith and also looks after the local mine. Ask him for Hafjorg’s sample. He grumbles that it took long enough, since he wrote to her about it weeks ago. If you press him, he explains that the ore is of a kind he has never come across and he wants to know what it is before he starts digging it out in earnest. He then hands it over.
Return the ore sample to Hafjorg
Walk or ride back to Riften and give the sample to Hafjorg. She promises to have Elgrim study it once his busy schedule allows, and the quest is done.

- A selection of random potions from Hafjorg.
Tips and notes
- The journal lists the steps as miscellaneous objectives rather than a named quest entry, using the wording “Obtain the ore sample from Filjnar”.
- Shor’s Stone has its own problems with the mine, so it is worth chatting to Filnjar about it while you are there.
- The mysterious ore is never identified within this quest, so do not expect a follow-up.
- Combine the trip with other Riften errands such as Grimsever’s Return to build up goodwill with the city’s residents.
