Romance is in the air at the Bee and Barb. Talen-Jei, the Argonian who tends bar at the inn in Riften, wants to propose to its owner Keerava the way it is done in Black Marsh – with a one-of-a-kind ring. He just needs someone to supply the gems. This quick errand in the Rift is ideal for anyone who has been hoarding jewels.
How to start
Speak to Talen-Jei at the Bee and Barb and ask him about Keerava. He explains the Black Marsh custom of offering a future mate a unique wedding ring that symbolizes the bond to come, and asks you to bring him three flawless amethysts so he can craft one.
Walkthrough
Get three flawless amethysts
Any flawless amethysts will do, and the journal tracks how many you carry. You can obtain them however you like:
- Find them – they turn up as loot while exploring.
- Buy them – check merchants that sell gems.
- Steal them – Talen-Jei does not ask where they came from.
If you already have three in your inventory when you accept the task, you can skip straight to the next step.
Return to Talen-Jei
Head back to the Bee and Barb and hand over the gems to finish the quest.
Rewards
- One random reward: a non-leveled potion, a weak poison, or 200 gold.
- Talen-Jei’s disposition toward the Dragonborn improves.
Tips and notes
- The reward is modest compared with the value of three flawless amethysts, so this is more of a feel-good quest than a money-maker.
- Talen-Jei only partly describes the Argonian wedding tradition; the quest is a nice glimpse of Black Marsh customs.
- Do not sell or use your flawless amethysts for crafting if you plan to do this quest – you need three at once.
- The quest only appears once you ask Talen-Jei about Keerava, so make a point of chatting with him whenever you pass through Riften.
- Stolen gems work just as well as bought ones, but be careful not to get caught lifting them from a merchant’s counter in a guarded city.
