Return to Grace is a miscellaneous quest in Solitude, in Haafingar. Greta has lost her brother Roggvir, executed in the city, and has stopped attending the Temple of the Divines. She would go back if she had something of his to carry with her: the Amulet of Talos he kept hidden on his person.
How to start
- Speak to Svari in Solitude. She mentions that Greta is grieving Roggvir and no longer visits the temple.
- Then talk to Greta about it. She explains that she cannot return to worship without a link to Talos, and asks you to bring her Roggvir’s amulet.
Walkthrough
Speak to Greta
Greta tells you Roggvir wore a symbol of Talos in secret. His body now rests in the catacombs beneath Solitude’s Hall of the Dead, and the amulet is still with him.
Retrieve the Amulet of Talos
Enter the catacombs. Roggvir’s stone coffin is in the second alcove on the left as you come in. Search it and take the Amulet of Talos.
Return the amulet to Greta
Bring the amulet back to Greta. She takes it gratefully and pays you a sum of gold that depends on your level.

- Level 1–9: 250 gold
- Level 10–19: 400 gold
- Level 20–29: 500 gold
- Level 30–39: 600 gold
- Level 40+: 750 gold
Tips and notes
- If you start the quest early enough, the amulet may still be on Roggvir’s body right after his execution, saving you the trip underground.
- If you already carry Roggvir’s amulet when you speak to Greta, she is a little put out but takes it as a sign.
- Be careful about picking up Roggvir’s amulet before this quest starts. Doing so is linked to several problems: other Amulets of Talos can become stuck as quest items, Greta may refuse to take the amulet, and the quest may never close. The safest route is to talk to Svari and Greta first and only then collect the amulet.
