On the road near Nilheim in the Rift, a man sits beside a wrecked cart and asks you to see him safely home. Telrav claims to be a robbed merchant, but in reality he is a bandit whose favourite trick is leading helpful travellers straight into an ambush. Telrav’s Request is short, but it is a good lesson in Skyrim roadside cynicism.
How to start
Travel the road outside Nilheim, which lies east of Ivarstead and north-west of Sarethi Farm. Telrav sits next to a smashed cart and says his camp is in the ruins nearby, promising a reward if you get him there safely. Agree to help and the quest begins.
Walkthrough
Escort Telrav to his camp
For a supposedly injured man, Telrav sets off at a remarkably cheerful pace towards Nilheim. Just before arriving he tells you the camp is across the bridge and up the hill. Feel free to start getting suspicious here.
Wait for your reward
At Nilheim, Telrav asks you to wait while he fetches your reward. Instead, bandits come out of hiding and attack, and Telrav turns hostile and joins them. Your journal notes that you have been double-crossed.
Kill Telrav
The bandits are leveled, so the fight scales with your character. Telrav himself is an Imperial archer who wears no armor, which makes him an easy target once you close the distance with a melee weapon. Kill him and the rest of the gang to complete the quest.
Loot Nilheim
Search the bodies and the containers around the fort. Telrav sometimes carries several hundred gold on his body.
Choices and consequences
- If you kill Telrav before he reaches his camp, the quest fails because you can no longer escort him.
- If you kill all of his men before he arrives, he cries out about what you have done to them and attacks you alone.
- If Telrav survives, he wanders back to his spot by the road and stays non-hostile even when you talk to him.
Rewards
- Leveled gold (often several hundred septims on Telrav’s corpse)
- Loot from the bandits and the containers in Nilheim
Tips and notes
- Search the cliffs next to the tower: several fresh corpses there suggest you are far from the first traveller Telrav has tricked.
- If you visit Nilheim before meeting Telrav, the bandits may be labelled as guards and stay peaceful. Escorting Telrav afterwards then leads nowhere: he walks to the camp, nothing happens, and he returns to the road with no reward.
- A dragon attack near Nilheim can drag Telrav and his men into the fight early and leave the quest in a messy state.
