Large Dwemer Strut

A heavy Dwemer support beam found in Dwarven ruins, smelted into Dwarven Metal Ingots for Dwarven weapons and armor.

Large Dwemer Strut is a long piece of Dwarven support beam that weighs 20 and is worth just 15 gold, which makes it one of the worst things to sell in its raw form. Throw it into a smelter, though, and you get a Dwarven Metal Ingot, the material for Dwarven Armor and weapons with the Dwarven Smithing perk. The Dwemer built things to last, and so will your back if you carry too many.

How to get it

Struts lie around in Dwemer ruins. In Markarth, Calcelmo‘s Laboratory has 11 and the Dwemer Museum 10 across its rooms. The Nchuand-Zel ruins below the city have 9 in the Quarters plus 7 more in Control and the Armory.

Mzulft is just as generous: 9 in the main ruin, 8 in the Aedrome and 7 in the Boilery. The Deep Market in Raldbthar adds 4. Falmer sometimes carry struts too. Because of the weight, plan your route so you can smelt right away, for example at Markarth’s smelter right after clearing Nchuand-Zel, before you head anywhere else.
