Nystrom was a treasure hunter who, together with his partner Anders, tried to rob the Twilight Sepulcher. The pair posed as priests of Nocturnal to get close to the valuables, which Anders believed lay inside Pilgrim’s Path.
Where to find them
His body lies in the first room of the Twilight Sepulcher. His journal rests with him, and an enchanted war axe of varying quality lies next to his remains.

In Darkness Returns, ask Gallus what awaits you in Pilgrim’s Path and you get an optional objective to retrieve Nystrom’s Journal nearby. It’s worth grabbing: the riddles it records are clues to the obstacles ahead.
Personality & relationships
While undercover, Nystrom was given a mentor named Lythelus. He kept prying about the trials of Pilgrim’s Path until Lythelus let some details slip – unhelpfully, in the form of riddles. Nystrom planned to share what he’d learned with Anders so they could tackle the trials together. Anders had other ideas, killed him and left his body behind. Karma caught up with Anders later.
Good to know
Nystrom and Anders together spell Anders Nyström, the Swedish guitarist who founded Katatonia. The phrases Lythelus uses in the journal are names of a Katatonia album and track.
