Umana is a Redguard warrior and one of the explorers who went digging in the Dwemer ruin of Alftand. On paper she was Sulla Trebatius’ bodyguard and constant companion. In practice, the ruin got to both of them.
Where to find them
You meet Umana and Sulla deep inside Alftand, just before one of the entrances that leads on to Blackreach. When you walk in, the two are arguing, and both of them turn hostile towards you.
Quests
She is an obstacle rather than a quest giver, met on the way down during Elder Knowledge.
Personality & relationships
Of the whole expedition, Umana seems like the one with the most common sense. Her journal shows a slow slide from excitement to dread: crew members kept vanishing at night, and she started hearing what might have been screams echoing through the ruin – or might have been nightmares.
She eventually begs Sulla to give up and leave before anyone else dies. Sulla, fully in the grip of paranoia, decides she just wants to sneak back later and take all the glory, and the pair end up fighting to the death. Level-headed or not, she still swings at you the moment you show up.
Good to know
- She carries a unique spiked shield, the Targe of the Blooded, whose shield bash makes the target bleed.
- She wears an almost full set of Steel Plate Armor (no helmet) no matter what level you are – a nice early haul.
