Verner Rock-Chucker is a Nord miner and the man who found Goldenrock Mine at Darkwater Crossing; he and his wife have lived there ever since. He is married to the explorer Annekke Crag-Jumper, and their daughter Sylgja lives at Shor’s Stone.
Where to find them
At Darkwater Crossing, usually working in or around the mine.
Quests
- Mine Ore – a recurring job: dig up corundum in the mine and Verner pays you for it.
- Special Delivery – Sylgja asks you to bring a satchel to her father. Verner is sorry she couldn’t come herself and asks you to carry something back to her.
Services
Verner buys corundum ore and promises a fair price for the effort.
Personality & relationships
Verner loves his wife but would like her feet on the ground a bit more. Annekke used to help with the mining; these days she would rather roam the wilds, and Verner grumbles that she seems more interested in finding new rocks than spending time with him. Their chats are a running marital comedy: she raves about a tree growing out of a cave, he points out he found amber and could have used help hauling it out; he asks where his pickaxe went, she knows exactly where, and he can’t resist a little jab.
Still, there’s warmth under the bickering – he admits he should join her more often, and she says she misses him. He also recommends her to anyone who wants to know about the area.
