Haafingar Stormcloak Camp

Stormcloak war camp on a cliff ledge off the road between Solitude and Dragon Bridge, with a quartermaster, crafting stations and a commander in a permanently bad mood.

This Stormcloak camp clings to a rather precarious ledge just off the road between Solitude and Dragon Bridge, overlooking the river that runs southwest of the city. It is a forward base for the Stormcloaks during the Civil War, staffed by soldiers, a quartermaster and a notably grumpy commander, Istar Cairn-Breaker. Whether this is a friendly resupply stop or an enemy outpost depends entirely on which side you picked.

What you’ll find

  • Stormcloak soldiers and their commander, Istar Cairn-Breaker.
  • A quartermaster who trades armor, weapons and smithing materials.
  • Crafting gear: anvil, grindstone, workbench, alchemy lab, cooking pot and a wood chopping block.
  • A chest with random loot near the alchemy lab.

Quests

The camp is part of the Civil War questline, appearing in The Battle for Fort Hraggstad and Liberation of Skyrim.

Tips

If you fight for the Stormcloaks, this is a handy pit stop on the Solitude road: sell loot to the quartermaster, sharpen your blade, brew a potion and cook a meal, all in one place. Just don’t expect a warm welcome from Istar.

If you signed up with the Imperial Legion, everyone here will attack you on sight. Once the rank-and-file soldiers are dealt with, the captain is essential and cannot die, so some players use him as a tireless sparring partner to level their combat skills. Cruel? A little. Effective? Very.

Good to know

The ledge location is as dramatic as it sounds – watch your step around the edges, especially in the middle of a fight. Nobody wants to explain to the healer that they lost a fight to gravity.
