The Rear-Guard by Tenace Mourl follows Menegur, a soldier left alone to hold Cascabel Hall while his army retreats. The wagon of “supplies” turns out to be full of netch leather armor looted from Morrowind, not food. Hungry but well protected, he holds out – with a clever, happy ending involving the law and some very good apples.
