Mehrunes’ Razor is a Daedric artifact belonging to Mehrunes Dagon, the Daedric Prince of destruction – the same Prince who tried to invade Tamriel in Oblivion. It is a small black and silver dagger with a terrifying reputation: every hit has a small chance to kill the target instantly. It is also known as the Dagger of the Final Wounds, Bane of the Righteous and Kingslayer.
How to get Mehrunes’ Razor
The Razor is the reward for the Daedric quest “Pieces of the Past.” In Dawnstar, the Imperial Silus Vesuius has turned his house into a museum dedicated to the Mythic Dawn, the cult behind the Oblivion Crisis. He asks you to recover the three broken pieces of the Razor from around Skyrim. Once they are found, you go with him to Mehrunes Dagon’s shrine – and Dagon demands that you kill Silus. Do it, and the reforged Razor is yours. Refuse, and you walk away empty-handed.
Enchantment
Each hit has a small chance to instantly kill the target – no matter how many hit points it has. It does not work on everything (some essential characters and certain bosses are immune), but against regular enemies it can end a fight in a single swing. Combine it with a fast weapon style or dual wielding to give the effect more chances to trigger.
Smithing
Improved at a grindstone with an Ebony Ingot.
Good to know
- Light (just 3 weight) and great for sneak attacks, where daggers get a big damage bonus.
- Getting it requires murder, so it is one for characters who are fine with a darker path.
How to get it
Reward from Mehrunes Dagon for completing Pieces of the Past (started by Silus Vesuius in Dawnstar) and killing Silus at the shrine.
