Family feuds are not limited to Jarls and kings. On a small farm outside Markarth, the farmer Rogatus Salvius has a letter for his son, and he is not exactly writing to say how proud he is. This simple delivery job in the Reach sends you east to the Old Hroldan Inn to play postman between a stubborn father and an equally estranged son.
How to start
Go to Salvius Farm, a small farm with a windmill just outside Markarth. Rogatus Salvius is usually out working in his garden. Talk to him and he will tell you about his strained relationship with his son Leontius, then ask you, as a traveler, to deliver a letter to him.
Walkthrough
Deliver the letter to Leontius
Leontius lives at Old Hroldan Inn, east of Markarth. The road there passes close to several Forsworn camps, so the trip can be dangerous for a low-level character heading straight out from the city – travel carefully or bring a follower.
During the day Leontius is usually outside chopping wood or wandering around the inn; at night he moves indoors. Hand him the letter to complete the quest.
Rewards
- 25 gold.
Tips and notes
- The journal misspells the son’s name as “Leonitus”; the character is Leontius Salvius.
- The quest is a good excuse to discover Old Hroldan Inn and unlock it for fast travel.
- The pay is small, so combine the trip with other errands in the area.
- Rogatus’s message is far from warm – he calls his son a failure – so do not expect a heartfelt family reunion. The quest is about delivering the words, not fixing the relationship.
- If you are coming from Markarth at a low level, consider using a carriage to a nearby hold and walking in from the east rather than crossing the Forsworn-held stretch of the Reach on foot.
