Veren Duleri is a Dunmer priest of the Daedric Prince Vaermina and one of the last two cultists left in Nightcaller Temple, high above Dawnstar. He’s the one who gave the order that put the whole temple to sleep.
Where to find them
Veren waits deep inside Nightcaller Temple near the Skull of Corruption, alongside his fellow priest Thorek.
Quests
Veren is one of the final obstacles in Waking Nightmare. As you and Erandur fight your way to the Skull, Veren and Thorek block the path. Veren knows Erandur by his old name, Casimir, and accuses him of fleeing and leaving his brothers to die before the Miasma took them. Erandur insists he simply wasn’t ready to sleep, Veren refuses to let a priest of Mara destroy the Skull, and the two sides fight.
Personality & relationships
Veren is a hard-line believer. Back when Orcs stormed the temple and only a handful of priests remained, he decided the Miasma had to be released. He called it Vaermina’s will, and he ordered Brother Casimir to raise the barrier and let it loose. He then vowed to stand guard over the Skull with Thorek until the end. He still sees Erandur as the traitor who ran.
Good to know
- Since you have to fight him anyway, Veren is a convenient source of Dunmer blood for Septimus Signus in Discerning the Transmundane.
- Despite Erandur’s claims that the Miasma drives people mad, Veren seems perfectly sane, unlike the cultists and Orcs elsewhere in the temple.
