Snilf is a Nord beggar on the streets of Riften. He has every reason to be bitter, and he lets everyone know about it. He sometimes tells passers-by that brigands killed his wife and daughter and burned his house down, leaving him with nothing.
Where to find them
He wanders Riften during the day and sleeps in Beggar’s Row at night. Now and then he storms into The Bee and Barb, shouts at the guests about his hard life and leaves again.
Quests
Give him a coin and you receive the Gift of Charity blessing, and the good deed counts as helping the people of The Rift on your way to becoming its thane.
During The Whispering Door line, he is one of the two Riften beggars, alongside Edda, who can be revived with The Ritual Stone and used again to charge the Ebony Blade. If you once gave him gold, he leaves behind a Letter of Inheritance when he dies.
Personality & relationships
Snilf is angry at everyone with money and accuses the rich of walking past beggars as if they don’t exist. Paying him doesn’t really soften him, and he keeps making snide remarks afterward. He thinks Edda is the lucky one, because she’s too mad to notice how awful the world is. His advice for visitors is grim: get out of Riften and never come back.
