Chief Larak

Chief Larak is the Orc chief of Mor Khazgur, an ex-Legion warrior who won his title in combat, trains Block and can make you Blood-Kin to the Orcs.
“Welcome to our stronghold, Blood-Kin.”

Chief Larak rules Mor Khazgur, the Orc stronghold west of Solitude. He took the job the traditional Orc way: when his father became too old and weak to lead, Larak challenged him to single combat and killed him. He fully expects a son of his to do the same to him one day, and seems to look forward to it.

Where to find them

Larak is based in his longhouse at the center of the stronghold and spends his time around the camp keeping an eye on his people.

Quests

If you’re not an Orc, the stronghold won’t treat you as one of its own until you prove yourself. Larak’s test is to bring back the Forgemaster’s Fingers. Do that and he declares you Blood-Kin under the Code of Malacath, which means every stronghold will now welcome you as family. He’s openly surprised about it, too: nobody else has ever come back from that task.

Ask him for work and he offers a different kind of test: a fistfight for a 100 gold wager. Beat him and he’ll grudgingly hand over the coin, impressed that an outlander bested a chief.

Services

Larak trains Block up to Master level, which makes him one of the best shield teachers you can find.

Personality & relationships

Larak is married to Bagrak and Shuftharz, his forge-wife, and is the father of Borgakh the Steel Heart and Olur. As chief, he is the only man in Mor Khazgur and its mine allowed to marry and father children; he says it keeps the tribe strong. His mother, the wise woman Sharamph, assures him Malacath is pleased with his strength.

He’s happy to explain how Orcs govern themselves: the Code of Malacath is unwritten, passed down through the generations, and the rule for outsiders is simple. Don’t steal, don’t attack anyone, or pay the Blood Price in gold or blood. Surprisingly for such a traditionalist, Larak once served in the Imperial Legion, and he offers to show Olur a few Legion smithing techniques. He also has a flirty side, complimenting Shuftharz on how her muscles ripple at the forge.

Good to know

Larak isn’t essential. If he dies, Shuftharz takes it hard and refuses to deal with you afterwards.
