The Skaal Coat is the everyday clothing of the Skaal, the Nordic people of Solstheim (Dragonborn). This page covers the whole outfit: the Skaal Hat, Skaal Coat, Skaal Gloves and Skaal Boots. All four pieces count as light armor and none of them is enchanted. The coat alone has an armor rating of 26, which is respectable for something that looks like a cozy winter jacket.
How to get it
- Highpoint Tower. A complete set (hat, coat, gloves and boots) is placed at Highpoint Tower on Solstheim. This is the easiest way to get everything at once.
- Moesring Pass. An extra Skaal Hat lies in Moesring Pass.
- Skaal Village. Almost every villager wears pieces of the outfit, including Baldor Iron-Shaper, Edla, Oslaf and the shaman Storn Crag-Strider. A good pickpocket could help themselves, but the Skaal are friendly folk, so think twice.
- Random loot. The hat also appears in a leveled list from level 1.
Is it worth wearing?
In pure numbers the full set totals 46 armor and weighs 9.5, a decent mid-tier light armor outfit with zero enchantments. That makes it a blank canvas for an enchanter, or a lightweight stand-in until you find something better. Compared with Fur Armor and Hide Armor, it gives you a similar rustic look with a distinct Skaal style.
Where it really shines is roleplay. If you are playing a Solstheim native or simply want to blend in with Frea‘s people, nothing else looks quite as right.
Good to know
- The hat is worth 400 gold, far more than the coat (100) or the gloves and boots (30 each).
- Not every villager wears every piece; boots are the most common.
