Black-Briar Reserve

Black-Briar Reserve is a premium bottle of mead in Skyrim that restores 30 Stamina but slows Stamina regeneration for 30 seconds.

Black-Briar Reserve is the top-shelf version of Black-Briar Mead, the drink brewed under the name of the powerful Black-Briar family. Its internal game name marks it as a private reserve, and its price reflects that: at 100 gold it is worth many times more than an ordinary bottle of mead while weighing the same 0.5.

Effects

Drinking a bottle has two effects:

  • Restores 30 points of Stamina at once.
  • Stamina regenerates 40% slower for 30 seconds afterwards.

Like other alcoholic drinks in Skyrim, it trades a quick boost for a short penalty. The instant 30 Stamina is a larger burst than most meads give, but the 40% regeneration penalty is also steeper, so it is best used right before a sprint or a power attack rather than as a way to recover over time. For lasting Stamina recovery, Regenerate Stamina potions are the better choice.
