Halbarn’s Supplies is a Dragonborn miscellaneous quest at Thirsk Mead Hall on Solstheim. The Nords have their hall back, but the Rieklings walked off with most of the smith’s materials, and as Halbarn Iron-Fur puts it, he cannot forge air. He asks you to keep an eye out for Stalhrim and ebony on your travels.
How to start
- Complete Retaking Thirsk.
- Talk to Halbarn Iron-Fur at his forge outside Thirsk Mead Hall and ask whether he is getting back to work.
- The quest can no longer be started once The Chief of Thirsk Hall has been completed.
Walkthrough
Gather 10 Stalhrim
The best place to get Stalhrim is the Stalhrim Source, which holds a large amount of it. You will need an ancient Nordic pickaxe to mine it. The location is revealed during A New Source of Stalhrim, so it is worth doing that quest first.
Gather 15 Ebony Ingots
Mine ebony ore and smelt it into Ebony Ingots. Good sources:
- Raven Rock Mine, once it has been reopened.
- Gloombound Mine on the mainland.
- Redbelly Mine on the mainland.
Fifteen ingots is a fair amount of ore, so bring a pickaxe and some patience.
Deliver the materials
Return to Halbarn with everything in your pack. He says the timing is perfect, since Kuvar had started grumbling about his new armor, and invites you to come back if you ever want something fancier for yourself.
Rewards
- Leveled gold: 250 (level 1–9), 400 (10–19), 500 (20–29), 600 (30–39) or 750 (40+).
- Halbarn Iron-Fur becomes available as a follower.
- Halbarn also becomes a marriage candidate.
Tips and notes
- Raw Stalhrim is also what you need for Stalhrim armor, so mine extra while you are at the Source.
- The journal has a failed stage, which fits with the quest becoming unavailable after The Chief of Thirsk Hall.
- Thirsk has other jobs too: see Elmus’ Mead (must be done before Thirsk is retaken).
