Salt For Arcadia is a quick delivery job in Whiterun Hold that sends you from the court wizard’s study down to the city’s resident alchemist. Farengar Secret-Fire has a parcel of frost salts that belongs to Arcadia, and since you are already standing there, you get to be the courier. It is short, safe and pays in potions, which makes it a nice warm-up for new characters in Whiterun.
How to start
Talk to Farengar in his study inside Dragonsreach and ask him whether there are any other people practising the magical arts in Whiterun. He mentions Arcadia and asks you to take some frost salts to her. Accept, and the salts are added to your inventory as a quest item.

Leave Dragonsreach
Walk out of the palace and head down through the Cloud District and the Wind District to the Plains District, the lower market area near the main gate. Arcadia’s shop, Arcadia’s Cauldron, sits right by the market stalls.
Give the frost salts to Arcadia
Speak to Arcadia inside her shop and hand over the salts. She is delighted: the ingredient is meant for a special brew she is working on, a love elixir she describes as unlike anything else. She even jokes that Farengar might make a good first test subject. The quest completes as soon as the delivery is made, and she pays you on the spot.

- The quest has a single objective, so it is a good one to pick up whenever you visit Farengar during the main story.
- Arcadia is also one of the best early sources for alchemy ingredients and potions in Whiterun, so it is worth browsing her stock while you are there.
- The potions are small but handy: the invisibility potion is a free escape button, and the stamina potion helps when you are sprinting or power attacking a lot.
- Frost salts are an alchemy ingredient in their own right, but the ones Farengar gives you are for delivery only and are taken when you hand them over.
