Darklight Tower in the Reach is home to a coven of witches led by Silvia, who is about to undergo the ritual that will turn her into a Hagraven. Her daughter Illia was sent to find a sacrifice for the ceremony but has had enough. She wants to reach the top of the tower and stop her mother, and you look like exactly the help she needs.
How to start
- Enter Darklight Tower. Illia, an Imperial mage, approaches you right away, standing over a witch she has just killed.
- Agree to help her reach the top and she heads up the stairs.
Walkthrough
1. Climb the tower with Illia
Illia is a strong ally whose ice spikes hit hard against the many spiders and Hagravens inside. Stay close and support her rather than charging ahead; she will soak up much of the attention. Watch your aim, because hitting Illia in the chaos can turn into a dead escort.
2. The Master-locked door
Partway up you reach a door with a Master lock. If you cannot pick it, go alone down a side corridor into an inner chamber where a witch and a Hagraven wait. The witch carries the key. Kill them, return to Illia, open the door and continue climbing.
3. The trap for Silvia
When you step out into the courtyard at the top, Illia explains her plan: she will present you to her mother as the promised sacrifice to get close. Sitting in the chair sets things in motion. You do not need to stay seated; standing up straight away with weapons drawn can give you a better start. Illia’s backstab fails, so you will have to help bring Silvia down quickly. Silvia’s spells are dangerous, but she concentrates on her daughter first. You can also ignore the plan and attack Silvia immediately.
4. Aftermath
With Silvia dead, Illia thanks you and suggests taking her mother’s staff as payment. Take the Staff of Hag’s Wrath from the body, loot the table, and check the chest in Silvia’s tent.
Rewards
- Staff of Hag’s Wrath (from Silvia’s body).
- Spell Tome: Repel Undead and gold (in the chest).
- Illia becomes available as a follower.
Tips and notes
- If Illia dies along the way, the quest can still be finished and the staff looted from Silvia, but you lose your new follower.
- Your own follower may attack Illia after the final fight. Tell them to wait at the top of the stairs before the courtyard.
- The tower is full of mushrooms, potions, chests and side rooms. Finish the quest first, then explore at leisure with a light source.
- Entering through the top of the tower by climbing the mountain can break the quest order; go in through the main door.
