The Dented Iron Shield is exactly what the name promises: an iron shield that has taken a few too many hits (Dragonborn). It is a heavy shield with an armor rating of 15 and a weight of 12, and it carries no enchantment. Its value of just 30 gold tells you how much merchants think of it. Still, it is a unique find, and collectors may want one for the display shelf.
How to get it
The shield is not placed anywhere in the world. Instead it comes from two leveled lists used by Hulking Draugr, the beefy undead that appear in Dragonborn. Fight them in the tombs of Solstheim and check their bodies afterwards. Because it comes from leveled lists, not every Hulking Draugr will carry one, but it can turn up from level 1 onwards.
Is it worth wearing?
Not really. It is a basic heavy shield with low protection, plenty of weight and no special effect. Any upgrade path you would take with a standard Iron Armor build will quickly leave it behind, and Steel Armor or Dwarven Armor shields beat it easily.
If you love the worn-out aesthetic of an undead warrior, though, it makes a fitting prop for a Draugr-themed character. Otherwise, treat it as loot to sell or leave behind.
Good to know
- It is used by Hulking Draugr, not by ordinary Draugr.
- It has no forge recipe, so you cannot craft a fresh one.
