Rexus is an Imperial warrior and the long-serving bodyguard of Amaund Motierre. According to Motierre, Rexus has been with the family since Amaund was a boy, and he trusts him with his life.
Where to find them
Rexus first appears with Motierre in the crypt of Volunruud. Later he moves with his master to The Bannered Mare in Whiterun, where he sits by the fire.
Quests
- The Silence Has Been Broken: when Motierre has explained his contract, he calls on Rexus to hand over the goods: Motierre’s sealed letter and a jeweled amulet, both meant for your Dark Brotherhood superior.
- Hail Sithis!: Rexus is in the Bannered Mare when you come looking for Motierre. He’s openly surprised to see you, since word had it you were dead, and points you to the back room.
Personality & relationships
Rexus is a man of few words and great loyalty. When things go wrong, Motierre’s first instinct is to shout for Rexus to help. Rexus is essential, so he can be knocked down but never killed.
Good to know
- He sometimes turns hostile the moment you enter Volunruud. Sneaking in and letting Motierre approach you, or casting a Calm spell, usually defuses things.
- A bounty in Whiterun can also make him hostile.
- If he hands you the letter and amulet but they don’t appear, try pickpocketing them back. Or knock him down and pickpocket him as he gets up.
