Yatul

Yatul is the huntress of Narzulbur and one of Chief Mauhulakh's aunts, teaching young Urog to hunt while quietly scheming about the chief's love life.

Yatul is the Orc huntress of Narzulbur and one of the aunts of Chief Mauhulakh. That makes the chief’s children, the blacksmith Dushnamub and young Urog, her great-nephew and great-niece.

Where to find them

In the daytime she walks the stronghold walls and keeps watch over the surrounding land from a small watchtower.

Personality & relationships

On the surface Yatul is a patient teacher. She is showing Urog how to hunt, explaining how to spot a snow cat by tiny shifts in shades of white, and telling her that sharp eyes are useless without a sharp mind. She has also been known to call the chief soft, joking that he struggles to chase a skeever out of his own house.

Listen in on her talks with Bolar, though, and things get darker. Yatul grumbles that the chief keeps going after new wives when he already has the two of them, talks about making sure a new bride never reaches the stronghold, and scolds Bolar for being too soft in the past. She is pleased whenever he mourns at his wives’ graves, since grieving keeps him from courting. With the chief himself she is all sweetness, telling him he is not ready for another wife yet and that she and Bolar will let him know when he is. The game never spells out what the two did to his earlier wives, but the hints are hard to miss.

Good to know

  • Urog has lines about a huntress named Uglarz being even better than Yatul was, which suggests someone else can take over the job.
