Hrefna is a young Nord girl living in the small mining camp of Darkwater Crossing. Her mother is the miner Tormir, and when mom is busy, the kindly Dunmer Sondas Drenim keeps an eye on her.
Where to find them
During the day she drifts around Goldenrock Mine, dragging a pickaxe along like a proper miner, though she rarely bothers to use it. She has no bed of her own and never actually sleeps, so at night you’ll find her sitting or pacing around the campfire.
Personality & relationships
Hrefna is curious about everything and happy to tell you so. She asks newcomers whether they are miners too, and pesters Sondas with questions about Morrowind, which she imagines as a black, gross place full of fires worth visiting.
She keeps bringing up an elf called Meieran who seems to teach her all sorts of things. Meieran never shows up in the game, but he clearly worries Tormir, who would rather her daughter learned to be a good Nord. She also misses Derkeethus, who used to take her diving; bring him home and she swims with him again.
Politically she is a little rebel inside a rebel family: she isn’t convinced the Empire is so bad and thinks Ulfric is a bad man – just don’t tell the soldiers.
Good to know
- If both Tormir and Sondas die, Hrefna can be adopted from the orphanage in Riften (Hearthfire).
- If you marry Sondas and he moves in with you, Hrefna may pop up at your house from time to time.
