Shuftharz is the blacksmith of Mor Khazgur and the second wife of Chief Larak. Among Orcs, a chief’s second wife carries the title of forge-wife and is responsible for keeping the stronghold armed and armored, and she takes the role seriously. She is also one of the least welcoming people in a stronghold that isn’t exactly famous for hospitality.
Where to find them
Her workshop is on the south side of Larak’s Longhouse, where she works the forge. She trades in the mornings and during the day, so don’t expect business at night.
Services
Shuftharz is a blacksmith who sells weapons and armor. She also pays full price for Orichalcum ore, which conveniently comes out of the mine on the hill above her forge, and she’ll suggest you go dig some up yourself if you want coin.
Personality & relationships
Until you’re accepted, nearly everything she says to you is some variation of “leave.” Outlanders, in her view, are trouble, and Malacath gave this land to Orcs alone. Compliment her work, though, and she warms up enough to explain the forge-wife tradition: Orcs supposedly learn to swing a hammer while still in the womb, and mothers always teach their children smithing. She has done exactly that with her son Olur, who now handles much of the mine and smelter work.
Larak openly admires her at the forge, and she accepts the compliment with a respectful “my chief.” Her fellow wife is Bagrak.
Good to know
If Larak is killed, Shuftharz shuts down completely and will only tell you to leave her alone, which also means no more trading.
