Cronvangr Cave lies just south of Riverside Shack and north of Eldergleam Sanctuary, west of Bonestrewn Crest and east of Mixwater Mill. You’ll spot it by the egg sacs outside and a dead mammoth caught in the webs, which is never a good sign. Inside are two very different neighbours: a nest of frostbite spiders and a group of vampires who have built themselves a cosy cottage underground.
What you’ll find
- An entry room with six frostbite spiders and an iron ore vein.
- A hidden door on the north side, opened by a brown button in a square frame near the fake rock wall. A fire trap is on the floor right behind it.
- A circular cave with a cottage on a ledge, guarded by three leveled vampires, with more possibly asleep inside.
- An alchemy lab, an arcane enchanter and an adept-locked chest behind the cottage.
- A spider room with eight more spiders and a long spiral path into the earth, plus a pool with a small chest at the bottom.
- Cronvangr Broodlair – spider-patrolled tunnels, a chest behind thick webs, and a nest with a giant frostbite spider guarding a chest next to a moonstone vein.
Quests
Cronvangr is a common radiant target. It can hold Queen Freydis’s Sword, The Forgemaster’s Fingers, Meridia’s Beacon, Shalidor’s Insights, Roggi’s ancestral shield, the courier from Arniel’s Endeavor or a Totem of Hircine. It can also be where Gunmar waits in A New Order, or an Animal Extermination target.

Tips
Look for the button before you go blundering through the webs, and step around the fire trap behind the door. The three vampires around the cottage are the real threat, so try to catch the sleepers inside before they wake. If a quest item isn’t in any chest, check the egg sacs: here, quest loot sometimes hides inside them. The broodlair exit loops back to a ledge above the first room, so you won’t have to walk the whole way out.
