Broken Limb Camp

Giant camp where the White and Darkwater rivers meet, north-northwest of Darkwater Crossing – two giants, a chest, hot springs and a silver vein.

Broken Limb Camp is a giant encampment near the point where the White River and the Darkwater River join, north-northwest of Darkwater Crossing. Two giants live here, which is exactly two more than most low-level adventurers would like. It’s a common target for Jarl bounties, and there’s a bit of loot and a silver vein for anyone who survives the club.

What you’ll find

  • Two giants guarding the camp.
  • An unlocked chest in the camp itself.
  • A bird’s nest with an egg a little way uphill behind the chest.
  • Hot springs to the left of the nest as you face uphill.
  • A silver ore vein just past the springs, set against a small cliff.
  • A cliff edge above the river nearby – more useful than it sounds (see Tips).

Quests

The camp can be the target of a Kill the Giant bounty, where a Jarl asks you to deal with a troublesome giant.

Notable items

  • The big chest – at character level 40 and above it may contain the spell tome Dread Zombie.
  • Silver ore vein against a small cliff just beyond the hot springs.
  • A bird’s nest with an egg, uphill behind the chest.

Tips

Giants hit hard enough to send you into low orbit, so fighting two at once in the open is risky. A favourite trick: lure one giant to the nearby cliff, slip behind it and use Unrelenting Force to shove it off into the river far below. It bobs around for a moment and then drowns – physics does the work, you take the credit. Otherwise, use arrows or spells from range and keep moving. Don’t forget the nest and the silver vein before you leave; they’re tucked away uphill and easy to walk past after the fight. Bring a pickaxe, and you can use the hot springs as a landmark to find the vein.
