Auriel’s Bow is the bow of the elven god Auri-El, the central artifact of the Dawnguard add-on. Legend says he carried it in the wars against Lorkhan – and in Skyrim it fires arrows that burn with the power of the sun.
How to get it
At the end of Touching the Sky, after defeating Arch-Curate Vyrthur in the Inner Sanctum of the Forgotten Vale.
Enchantment
20 points of sun damage per shot, tripled against undead. It also seems to draw faster than a normal bow – with the Quick Shot perk, a full draw takes under a second. Vampires are weak to fire too, so it shines against them as well.
Special arrows
- Sunhallowed Elven Arrows: shoot one at the sun to rain sunbursts on nearby enemies, or at a target for an area-of-effect explosion. Knight-Paladin Gelebor can help you get more.
- Bloodcursed Elven Arrows: shoot one at the sun to blot it out with darkness – handy for a vampire who’d rather not burn.
Smithing
Refined Moonstone; benefits from Elven Smithing.
Verdict
Its base damage of 13 is modest, but with sneak attacks on undead and the Overdraw perk it becomes devastating. It’s also the key to the final fight in Kindred Judgment.
