Amren’s Family Sword is an heirloom iron sword stolen from a family in Whiterun – and the reason for one of the first small favours many players do in the city.
The quest: Amren’s Sword
Amren, a Redguard living in Whiterun, wants his family’s sword back. Its location is random, but always in Whiterun Hold:
- Halted Stream Camp – in the chest on the boss’s raised platform, in the cavern with the dead mammoth
- Redoran’s Retreat – a chest with a bear trap, in the cavern furthest from the entrance
- Silent Moons Camp – a chest in the storage vault through the right-hand door near the forge stairs
- Swindler’s Den – a chest in the cavern behind the waterfall
- Valtheim Towers – a chest at the top of the northern tower (the journal calls it “Valtheim Keep”)
- White River Watch – a chest on the overlook with the boss, at the end of the cave
Stats
A plain iron sword: 7 damage, 9 weight. It can be improved with an Iron Ingot, no perk needed.
After the quest, Amren carries the sword himself and a copy rests on a shelf in his house.
