That Was Always There is a small moral dilemma in Windhelm. Revyn Sadri, who runs Sadri’s Used Wares, bought a gold ring that he believes was stolen from Viola Giordano, and he wants it quietly returned before anyone blames him. You can play the discreet burglar or simply tell Viola what happened. A short miscellaneous quest in Eastmarch.
How to start
- Visit Sadri’s Used Wares in Windhelm and talk to Revyn Sadri.
- He explains the ring problem and asks you to sneak it into Viola’s house – “put it in a dresser or something” – and promises to make it worth your while.
- Accept, and you receive Viola’s Gold Ring.
Walkthrough
Option 1: Plant the ring
Viola Giordano’s house is in the Stone Quarter, across the street from the House of Clan Shatter-Shield. The front door has a Master-level lock, so bring plenty of lockpicks or come back with better Lockpicking. Sneak inside (being seen while trespassing is a crime) and place the ring in the dresser immediately to the right of the front door. Then return to Revyn, who pays you.
Option 2: Tell Viola
Instead of breaking in, you can find Viola and tell her that Revyn has her stolen ring. She pays you for the information and the ring finds its way home without any lockpicking.
Choices and consequences
- Planting the ring: Revyn rewards you with leveled gold and becomes a possible marriage partner.
- Telling Viola: Viola rewards you with leveled gold and becomes a possible marriage partner instead. Revyn is unhappy about being exposed and treats you coldly afterwards.
Rewards
- Leveled gold from Revyn or Viola, depending on your choice.
- A new marriage option (Revyn or Viola).
Tips and notes
- The Master lock is the main obstacle. If you are not ready for it, telling Viola is the quicker route and needs no skills at all.
- Trespassing is a crime, so check that nobody is home or watching before you open the door.
- Both routes pay leveled gold, so the real decision is which of the two characters you would rather have as a potential spouse.
